Job Description

Design Engineer required for our client, a global provider of commercial and industrial heating and ventilation products are seeking a Design Engineer reporting to the Engineering Team Leader. You will be responsible for the design and development of new and existing products to ensure cost effective solutions to meet customer, regulatory and manufacturing requirements as defined in the design brief.

The Design Engineer will be responsible for:
Product design and continuous improvement of products to suit both internal and external manufacturing processes.
Supporting Senior Engineers through product lifecycle from concept to launch including ideas, design brief, concept, prototype, feasibility, APQP, detail design, validation and launch.
Generating manufacturing drawings and BoMs based on standard design schemes for production of bespoke AHU range.
Maintaining drawings and electronic documents relating to new products, cost improvement projects and engineering change control systems.
Transferring of existing CAD data to 3D Solidworks software.
Working with development team in prototype building and testing to ensure reliable and safe operation.
Supporting other elements to achieve departmental goals.

Job Accountabilities:
Producing component and assembly drawings using 3D and 2D CAD systems ensuring information provided is accurate and complete.
Investigating new technologies and manufacturing processes to incorporate into new and existing designs.
Liaising with external manufacturers and suppliers to establish specification and cost of specialised equipment.
Attending project and design review meeting to ensure that designs are progressed in accordance with concept to launch process.
Ensuring all drawings and documentations are recorded electronically in a professional manner to ensure data retrieval and maintain traceability to satisfy the requirements of ISO 9001 quality standards.
Considering new technologies to ensure cost effective and innovative product advancements to meet building regulations and industry standards.
Assisting the engineering team with the development and implementation of new products, improvement projects and cost reduction.
Being proactive in approach and foster good working relations with department colleagues and internal / external customers.

Qualifications / Requirements:
HNC or equivalent.
Proficient in use of SolidWorks, model, assembly and drawing.
Experience of component and assembly design for manufacture (preferably sheet metal).
Working hours: Days - 37.5 hours Monday to Friday
